IN NOVO SELO VILLAGE, AFTER FIELDS, WATER FLOODS HOUSEHOLDS

More than a hundred houses in Novo Selo village are surrounded by water that threatens to exceed at any moment at their very doorstep. It is suspected that this is about ground water, after heavy rainfall. Water is on both sides of the tracks, towards commercial zone Međurovo, appeared at the end of December last year and now it's even worse. According to the locals, back in time the risen water was pumped back with FRIPAK pumps and was returned to the river, but now these pumps do not work. After the request of the Council of citizens and Palilula Municipality, from the City Council they announced that the pumps would be renewed and that with the privatized company "FRIPAK" would be discusses about the possibilities.

In the fields here in Novo Selo, a real little pond was created. It began to grow in late December and since then the situation has only worsened. About that we have informed all the relevant authorities - says Boban Džunić, president of Palilula. We are unable to under these circumstances do anything more, since water goes into the cellars of houses in this moment. Due to water, without deep rubber boots many streets are no longer able to walk. There have been before problems during rainfall, says Zoran Misic, Deputy Chairman of the Citizens of Novo Selo, but this time the flooding threatens to cause electrical failure in installations. With flooding of septic tanks and sewage outpouring the environment and the health of the residents of this settlement is threatened.

In the Administration of Palilula Municipality, on whose territory Novo Selo is situated, they say that communal inspection of Municipality has reacted immediately after the call of citizens and is constantly in the terrain with the citizens. From the Center for Emergency Situations of the City of Nis they say they will take the first steps in solving this problem and that there is no need to panic.
